In for a Penny in for 76lb and a match win as Geoff does the biz and continues his run of form

Geoff Penny, Hollow angling, peg 32, 76-8-0

Storm Doris seems to be showing its self so the long poles were shortened to 6m and with a bit of extra line laid on presentation was just about bearable, Geoff maintains this great run of form presenting 6mm expander pellets on 3 lines and caught on all three, big hook bait big fish was the plan and the plan worked, a windy but successful match for Mr Penny

Bill Everitt, Lake John-Redbridge, peg 39, 102-4-0

A week earlier we had bitter cold easterly winds and fish were sparse and then this week we get a little bit of sun it feels like spring and the silver fish go on the munch, Bill had a red letter day catching all day long on the short 6m line hooking and feeding 6mm expander pellet, he caught that many fish i even made a short film (have a look on FB), a lovely man and a great days sport, this is one person looking forward to the 4th round of the Drennan WL this coming Sunday

Steve Crawley makes this his first Lake John victory and scopes the golden peg as well

steve-crawley-2016
Steve Crawley, Redbridge Lakes, peg 14, 54-12-0 golden peg

Steve has been a regular at the lake for a while now and has honed his skills on the top lake but without achieving the top honours well today that all changed and lets face it if your going to win you might as well wait until your on a golden peg, pellet attack for Steve on two lines 12m was the long line and a 6m line both produced a steady run of fish without too many quiet spells, a great result from one of the nicest anglers on the bank

Rob Dean adopted the full winter approach with mag and ground bait….

rob-dean-wednesdays-winner-3-11-16
Rob Dean, Lake John Fishery, peg 9, 85-0-0

The weather is on the turn and the natural baits is where its going to be for the for seeable future, Rob started on a 12m line feeding very generously with ground bait and dead maggot and just like the rest of the field it was a slow start but Rob was soon putting together some better silver fish and so mid match decided to repeat this on the shorter 6m line, it was a bite a chuck from 2pm onwards and a great final tally almost 30lb ahead of the nearest angler.

Paul Hyde once again breaks the 100lb barrier during Saturdays open match…

Paul Hyde 9th July 2016 peg 8 109lb

Paul Hyde, Browning-Wickford, peg 8, 109-8-0

Hydie is back from a couple of weeks away and back on the rostrum, we have been giving golden peg money away every week for five weeks making every peg a golden peg but like all good things they must come to an end, so this week Paul had to be content with flat money and no bonus, pellet down the track and then a switch to the inner margins for the only angler to break the 100lb

  • Paul Dunn, Lake John Fishery, peg 14, 80-0-0
  • Martin Amos, Lake John Fishery, peg 12, 67-8-0

Top Kit Dennis is victorious this week with 150lb of silvers…

Den Lip 2016
Dennis Lipscombe, Oakwood Angling, peg 36, 153-4-0

Not know to fish the long pole Dennis opted for the short pole again and meat just off the inner shelf margin, a huge weight again from the top lake of silver fish and the back up weights weren’t to shabby either.

Another match and another ton of silver fish….

trevor stanley golden peg 2015
Trevor Stanley, Lake John Fishery, peg 8, 100-0-0

Trevor started the match today on the popped up bread and had a steady run of fish on a line that doesn’t always produce especially in the open water, the longer 11m pole line produced a few fish also feeding was controlled so as not to attract the carp, but in was the 5m line loose feeding meat that was the most productive, big jumping bream and plenty of em, great days sport Trevski…

Top Kit Den does it again and a ton of silver in the net…

 Dennis Lipscombe 105lb win
Dennis Lipscombe, Oakwood Angling, peg 8, 105-2-0

Dennis Lipscombe is not known to fish the long pole hence the nickname but in all fairness he did venture out to 5m just down the shelf and with the first proper outing on the meat gave them fish exactly what they were looking for, bream, bream and more bream with the odd tench, but what a bag of fish for my old Mucker.

Boring, boring, boring lol, but he does do it well 6mm expander to the hook and loose fed at 20m catching up and down in the water, skimmers, bream and tench, that’s it and that’s exactly what he will do next week as well.
