Wet and windy and just not very nice but below the water the fish were “aveing it”, big time…

Kevin O'Brien 20.2.16 peg 12 bottom lake
Kevin O’Brien, Lake John Fishery, peg 12, 66-0-0

Kevin doesn’t much fancy fishing in the wind as a rule but an early run of fish helped him get over his fobia of the wind, this peg does get a little bit of cover when its blowing through so Kevin got his thinking cap on and fish the pellet down the track early on and had a look up the margins late on for a bonus carp or two

Paul Grant, 9.1.2016
Paul Hyde, Browning-Wickford, peg 24, 18-12-0

Its all the Paul’s for 1, 2 and 3 today and yet another hard but close match, the weather is on the turn and the fish are already on shut down mode, Hydie managed a few fish on the maggot and the pellet giving his mate Granty a fishing lesson and beating him by a margin of only 10oz’s, Granty pictured above as the nearly winner, he looks pretty pleased with himself though…

jingle bells, jingle bells pellet all the way o what fun it is for Roy to win the match today, a little festive ditty for you, end peg was always going to have a chance of framing and it has to be said that Roy is on his game at the moment so working all areas of the peg it was just a case of catching and resting the peg, 4mm expander for a mixed bag of fish, Merry Christmas everyone

Paul managed to put a few fish together early on the pellet, carp where in short supply today so everyone hooked was going to have to count, a bit of a funny day on the bank with a clear cold night and the a cloudy and showery day, the fish were like the weather a bit confused dot com.

Roy Stanley, Lake John Fishery, peg 7, 31-0-0

It was a horrible day for sitting in door let alone going fishing, swirling winds and poor presentation made every peg a potential winner, but it was Roy who kept his head and scratched together a few bites, a big effort from all involved today, pellet down the track was good enough today for a few bites

It was definitely a match of two half’s the first hour Roy achieved majority of this weight catching on either dead maggot or sweetcorn and after a great start the wheels completely fell off until the last hour where Roy managed a few more fish, a very slow and difficult day but a win all the same, love this pic of Roy and his clown wig…

Dennis Lipscombe, Oakwood Angling, peg 24, 49-12-0

Hydie draws yet another peg this week but this week only manages a third its nearly time for that lucky hat, meanwhile Lipscombe pushes the boat out and puts an extra joint on his top kit and fishes a nose bleeding 4m from the inner margin which is about 1m more than he likes to fish normally, 6mm expander pellet on two lines either side of his kept, carp, carp and more carp.

A golden peg victory for Brownings Basildon babe, maintaining a method that hasn’t let him down all year, micro potting 2mm pellet and loose feeding 4mm expanders over the top has been the winning formula for weeks, well that and an incredible amount of luck he is unbelievable he just cant do any wrong hopefully lady luck will pass him by when the winter league starts next month, lol, another great victory and great news about Paul’s mum who’s is doing well on her way to recovery, this wins for you mum x

Micky Scan is da man edging a victory by a margin of just 4oz’s….

Micky Scan 2015

Mick Scanlan, Oakwood Angling, peg 6, 46-0-0

With the clocks about to fall back todays match was always going to be slightly more difficult than in previous weeks, and with rain forecast the results were bound to be affected, Mick searched the peg for inspiration and with the usual micro pellet and 4mm expander pellet combo the fish took a while before they would get on the feed, but no-one would have guessed the match would have been this close, with only 8oz’s separating the top three, Dave Flanagan was only 4oz’s behind the lead and Granty with his new goggles just 4oz’s behind him, great match in not such great conditions.

paul grant pout
Paul Grant, Redbridge-Lake John, peg 6, 73-0-0

Granty has had a great run down at his local Redbridge Lakes so a few weeks ago he came to mix it up with the big boys and with a huge element of luck and and a smidgen of skill he has finally got it sussed, micro potting micro pellets and loose feeding 4mm expanders over the top gave Paul the edge this week, mainly carp but a health 28lb of silvers added a bit of variety to the day, he has the same luck as his mate Hydie alright blokes when you get to know them……lol
