Wednesday Open February 22nd 2017, Top Lake

In for a Penny in for 76lb and a match win as Geoff does the biz and continues his run of form

Geoff Penny, Hollow angling, peg 32, 76-8-0

Storm Doris seems to be showing its self so the long poles were shortened to 6m and with a bit of extra line laid on presentation was just about bearable, Geoff maintains this great run of form presenting 6mm expander pellets on 3 lines and caught on all three, big hook bait big fish was the plan and the plan worked, a windy but successful match for Mr Penny

Roy Stanley this week lead the rest with a respectable 54b of mixed fish

Roy Stanley 15th Feb 2017
Roy Stanley, Lake John Fishery, peg 3, 54-12-0

Not many matches being held on the bottom lake recently due to the bad weather so it was nice to see a few anglers enjoying a bit of better weather and a few fish, Roy fished three line rotated maggots and pellet, two lines across to the far bank and a margin line to his left giving him a fairly comfortable victory this week, back up weight were not to shabby to be fair, thinking of running a league in the next few weeks….. let me know if your up for it!

  • Trevor Stanley, Lake John Fishery, peg 14, 43-8-0
  • Craig Lucking, Lake John Fishery, peg 21, 38-12-0, golden peg

Bill Everitt smashes a ton of silvers in mid Febuary…… unheard of, unbelievable

Bill Everitt 102lb febuary 2017
Bill Everitt, Lake John-Redbridge, peg 39, 102-4-0

A week earlier we had bitter cold easterly winds and fish were sparse and then this week we get a little bit of sun it feels like spring and the silver fish go on the munch, Bill had a red letter day catching all day long on the short 6m line hooking and feeding 6mm expander pellet, he caught that many fish i even made a short film (have a look on FB), a lovely man and a great days sport, this is one person looking forward to the 4th round of the Drennan WL this coming Sunday

Sunday 19th February 2017, Lake John – Drennan – winter League round 4

Mid week open produced 100lb so expectations were high and It was that man Amos that headed the field today where some people even struggled to get a bite, so the winter is far from over it would seem…

Martin Amos rd4 drennan WL 2017
Martin Amos, Lake John Fishery, peg 4, 37-0-0

With Bill Everitt winning the Wednesday open match this week on the pellet from peg 39 which is located at the front of the lake, Martin was optimistic with his draw on the front bank, and it was a 9m pellet line that produced most of the fish, feeding 4mm and 6mm pellets and a 6mm on the hook this was a very positive approach but it wasn’t like this for everyone and some people even struggled for a bite which shocked some people having seen the results this week, maximum points for “Old Amos”…

  • Bill Everitt, Lake John-Redbridge, peg 7, 32-0-0
  • Gary Miller, Maver-Bait Tech, peg 31, 29-8-0
  • Tony Cassidy, Oakwood-Lake John, peg 37, 29-4-0
  • Dave Snowdon, Oakwood Angling, peg 32, 29-0-0
  • Colin Horwood, Harrow Herons, peg 26, 27-0-0

Sunday 5th February 2017, Lake John – Drennan – winter League round 3

We have had two weeks of shocking weather since the last round and then a lift in temperature on the lead up to this round so the hopes were high and a few fish should be caught

Chris vandervliet rd3 5.2.2017
Chris Vandervliet, Drennan-Bait Tech, peg 41, peg 29-8-0, 28pts

Chris drew a peg that you would of least wanted to fish today this peg only goes in when its a full house and as the whistle blew Chris fished the peg like it was any other good peg and with a generous amount a feed to start to entice a few fish into the peg and it was the shorter 6m line that came up trumps along with the odd margin fish catching on maggot and caster over ground bait, so all in all a good league round for him and his partner Geoff Penny.

Darren Bates, Lake John, peg 14, 26-4-0, 25pts
Paul Hyde, Browning-Wickford, peg 18, 24-12-0, 24pts
Ken Farrell, Lake John, peg 12, 18-0-0, 23pts
Geoff Penny, Hollow Angling, peg 10, 22-8-0, 22pts
Joe Lonergan, Harrow Herons, peg 32, 20-8-0, 21pts
