darren bates peg 33 2015
Darren Bates, Lake John Fishery, peg 14, 150-8-0

Darren is on a roll with the mass feeding of micro pellet and corn to the hook, Darren managed 179lb last week and looked like the winner but he had to wait until today for his title, Darren is on form and doing it just right the shorter 6m line mainly skimmers, bream and the odd carp

Peg 6 does it again but this week its a golden peg and Trevski Stanley has himself a bumper payday…

trevor stanley golden peg 2015
Trevor Stanley Lake John Fishery, peg 6, 127-8-0

This peg once again throw’s up a winning weight and a golden peg winning weight at that, but Trevski couldn’t beat old one leg Whitford’s total of last week so this means that Whitford is clearly a much better angler than you Mr Stanley, lol, it was a meat treat this week at about 5m fishing two lines left and right of the keep nets, carp mainly but a sprinkling of silver fish could be seen at the scales, dollar, dollar, dolla and on his wedding anniversary, congratulations Trevski

Wow…..Top kit Lipscombe produces the highest weight of the year and nearly breaks 200lb……….. how’s it fishing?, its fishing its head off…

Dennis Lipscombe 22.7.2015

Dennis Lipscombe, Oakwood Angling, peg 36, 193-12-0

Dennis is not known to fish to far out and in recent weeks he has been using a long line on a top kit almost like a whip to hand and with no shot down the line Dennis is maximizing the whole depth of the peg dropping his 8mm cubed meat through the water as slowly as possible, target fish of 2lb bream were plentiful and with a couple of bonus put back carp for 10lb Dennis had a great match beating his nearest rival by a mere 18lb, how’s it fishing?………..unbelievable.

  • Darren Bates, Lake John Fishery, peg 38, 179-0-0

Paul Whitford 1 18.7.2015 Paul Whitford 2 18.7.2015
Paul Whitford, Lake John Fishery, peg 6, 129-4-0

This peg is showing massive form in the last few weeks with the lake record a couple of weeks ago, so it was writing on the wall for the peg to throw up a few fish again this week, Paul Whitford part man part prosthetic run to his peg, well sort of… he didn’t hang about with a big piece of corn to the hook and a generous feeding of pellet and corn he led the match from the off a great result for the big man, a great payday for the wonder that is Whitford….

Ben Coss slips a day of work to slip a cheeky 1st place and stop the golden peg in the process, well done partner! ….

Ben Coss, Lake John Fishery, peg 18, 112-8-0

Now if i know Ben this would not have been the sort of draw he would have fancied not having a chuck to the island but this area has had a run of fish in the last few weeks so its not one to turn your nose up at, Ben has always questioned how he should feed here and from judging from todays performance he now knows you have got to fill it in, starting the match at 11m and easing his way into a cruve it was the shorter 6m line that was the banker, corn to the hook and plenty of topping up, my winter league partner of two years ago was enjoying catching big tench and bream with a bonus carp, he even lost a carp at the net which he thought was going to cost him, how wrong he was well done today Benny Boy, top man….

The records rolled last week so its not really surprising that the weights would be lower this week, Lee managed to rip another victory from this near capacity attendance…

Lee Ripper, GOT Baits, peg 1, 88-8-0

Not a peg that shows too much form but this just clarifies the point that the fish can and do swim so never be to unhappy if the draw appears unkind because you just never know what could happen, Lee plotted himself up catching his breath after blowing out all them candles on his recent 55th birthday cake, he still had cream from the cake on his chin when he done the draw, lol, anyway plenty of micro pellets with meat and dead maggots produced a few fish nothing like last week but still a nice close match and last weeks champ Paul Amos (real name Martin but got published Paul in the AT so this could stick lol),could only manage 3rd spot

Know for not fishing to far Dennis just keeps it simple just like himself and feeds the 5m line he steadily trickles meat or corn at the float no reinventing the wheel for the Enfield man who boosts being the Hooked champion back in the day when moustaches were fashionable, breams and fish various was just enough to beat the GOT baits maestro Roy Makins, congratulations Den even though you are irritating lol……

martin amos record haul 225lb 4.7.2015

Martin Amos, Angling Direct, Peg 6, 225-4-0

We had a storm from hell last night and lightning lit the sky for miles around so the forecast for todays fishing was a little doughtful but we couldn’t have been more wrong as the lake record first fell to Dennis Lipscombe on peg 16 with 158lb 12oz taking Paul Dunn’s record of 156b, but sadly Dennis’s record only held for about 20 minutes until the Amos with a little help from his friends slowly started to accumulate a total and new lake record of 225b 4oz, more than he thought Martin caught on a top kit tight in the left hand margin hooking corn and worm over a huge bed of micro pellet, catching a mixture of bream and carp but in the last hour the carp just kept coming, the peg was solid with a capital SOLID, joe average Mr Amos excelled himself today, he’ll probably go home and pour himself a nice cold one, well done today champ, the other runners could only muster a measly 100lb+ wow what a match…..

This lake just keeps giving and three weights over a ton and not an under water pig in sight makes these weights phenomenal these are not marginal fish racing matches you are having to search the peg from 6 to 10m dumping big cups full of corn and pellet to induce the peg into life, yet another great match at Lake John where even occasional anglers like Steve (Shaggy) Barnett rock up and nick a section win with 72lb and he hasn’t been here for over a year so its not only regulars that catch fish here, fancy it? open match on Sunday 26th July text me to book on 07958 938 153
